Fragile Resilience
Fragile Resilience series of works by Christopher Pew for 2010. Gallery showing at HCAC, Hamilton Ontario - October 17, 2010. Originally created as a response to emerging and new technologies and their impact on the human body, the 'Fragile Resistance' series developed many meaningful metaphors; the sacredness of life, protecting ideals, the potential harshness of our environment in contrast to the fragility of life. . . "I also play on certain concepts of duality" the artist explains, "two eggs, similar in size and shape, but with very different and individual agendas playing in the same reflective landscape. This dialogue or interaction begins with emergence from shelter and protection, and ends in awareness and understanding." The series of seemingly simple paintings is a fine example of how artists see and imbue objects with a symbolically rich life all their own.
